Northeast Alabama Community College will
be hosting Career Quest for Advanced Manufacturing through a
teleconference event on January 19. Career Quest, an outreach of
Sci-Quest in Huntsville, is a program designed to introduce
middle, high school and early college-aged students to the
high-growth career fields in the Tennessee Valley by providing
them an opportunity to meet career professionals in these focus
areas. Seeking to reach a wider audience, Sci-Quest is
partnering with NACC in their first joint teleconference event.
In addition to the teleconference
information, NACC instructors, career coaches, and industry
representatives will be on hand to answer questions about local
industry needs and potential job opportunities in the field of
Advanced Manufacturing. One of the local industry leaders
participating in this event will be GH Metal Solutions from Fort
Payne.
"Dream It! Do It!" is a national campaign intended to recruit
young career seekers into the exciting field of Advanced
Manufacturing. A video, filmed in Northeast Alabama, highlights
community colleges and the programs offered to prepare students
for the careers. The video will be included in the Career Quest
presentation.
To encourage student participation, NACC will be offering a
$1000 Technical Scholarship in the field of Advanced
Manufacturing to one eligible student in attendance. The event
will be held Tuesday, January 19, from 5:30 to 7:30 pm in the
Workforce Development building, Room 252 on the NACC campus.
Registration begins at 5 pm. For more information, please
