Mustang Horse Trainer to Visit NACC
On Tuesday, February 23, Amber Rain
Mathewson and her Mustang, Trouper, will be at Northeast Alabama
Community College. Mathewson, a horse trainer from Henagar, will
speak at 12 noon in the east side of the Student Center. Trouper
will be available on the lawn just outside for those in
attendance to meet.
Northeast successfully re-introduced the
mustang in its revised logo/seal several years ago. “Our
students, faculty, and staff have really taken to the mustang
symbol,” said NACC President, Dr. David Campbell. “It has in
fact become a part of our official seal. There’s something about
the spirit that mustangs display that just seems to appeal to
our students especially. We are very glad to have Ms. Mathewson
on our campus to tell us more about the mustang program and her
experiences. She is really an expert on this.”
Mathewson competed in the Extreme Mustang
Makeover in Murphreesboro, Tennessee last October. She had to
show in 100 days that she could tame her wild mustang and make
him receptive to her commands. She said, “The most rewarding
part of the competition was being able to say that I developed a
close relationship and bond with a wild horse that had never
been touched before I got him. Trouper is just one of the family
now.”
The public is invited free of charge to
attend this event. For more information about this event, call
